France wore their blue (home) jerseys for the Final, along with their traditional white shorts and red socks. Brazil wore their distinctive yellow/gold jerseys with blue shorts.
Today is the birthday of my favorite soccer player, Zinedine Zidane. He turned 54 years old today.
Zidane, as most everyone knows, is one of the game's biggest stars, even legends. He led France to it's first ever World Cup championship in the summer of 1998. Two years later, he led France to the Euro title, marking the most successful run in the history of French football. He became only the fourth player in history to score in two different World Cup Finals matches in 2006, and received the Golden Ball as the player of the tournament.
He also won titles in the league level with Real Madrid as both a player and coach.
