Every now and then, I feel a need to post something that is a bit more positive and hopeful than most news stories tend to be.
In that spirit, here is a story about a new world record that was recently established.
No, it is not some ridiculous category, like going the longest without sleeping, or perhaps blinking, or the longest kiss or anything.
This is one that actually matters in people's lives, and which will benefit people in the long term.
Earlier this month, in India, a million and a half volunteers planted a world record 66 million trees!
Now, that is a world record that truly impresses me, and which gives me a little hope for the human race. At a time when much of this country is fervently supporting Trump through all of his ridiculous nonsense and lies, and in particular, his relentless denial of the reality of climate change and the need for cleaner air and water and land more generally, it is nice to know that some people, somewhere in the world, still have good heads on their shoulders!
