It truly is staggering, the rate at which we have been losing absolute legends in recent years, and particularly the past few weeks.
Today, we lost yet another one.
Yes, David Crosby, one of the founding members of two legendary sixties bands, the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (CSNY), has died. He was 81 years old.
Crosby was one of the most distinctive voices and faces of the Hippie generation of the sixties. He and the rest of CSNY performed a now legendary set on the stage of Woodstock. They continued to produce some amazing and even iconic music for many years afterward, although the band split apart over time. In fact, Crosby himself was one of the polarizing figures in popular music, seemingly picking fights with other musicians, including his former bandmates. It appears that they never actually got to reconcile before Crosby's death.
Still, the music that they left us is great, and will be remembered and honored. And Crosby was no small part of that.
RIP, David Crosby, (1941-2023).
