We visited the campus of prestigious Cornell University, and Ivy League school, during our visit to Ithaca. It is one of the most prestigious colleges in the United States. Among some of the most famous names to have attended here are Bill Nye, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Mae Jemison, and one of my personal favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut. Also, this is where Carl Sagan became a tenured professor and did research for the last three decades of his life. And perhaps it should be noted that the fictional Andy Bernard (from The Office) famously attended college, as well.
Personally, I love visiting college campuses, and had long wanted to visit this particular campus. In particular, I had wanted to pay a visit to the Botanical Gardens there, although it felt a bit too early in the springtime on this particular visit to do that. Next time.
However, we did get to see a decent amount of the Cornell University campus. We went up the hill from downtown Ithaca, and then briefly traversed through the main campus, then onto the College of Veterinary Medicine, through a park that felt surprisingly rural, and was set seemingly right in the middle of the campus. Then finally, we ended at the Central Campus, with the Risley Hall being the main point of attraction there.
Below are the pictures that I took from the visit:
