With all of the talk surrounding the seemingly inevitable Aaron Rodgers trade to the Jets, it really made me wonder why they would not be going after another top notch quarterback who is currently on the market. This quarterback is also incredibly talented, and happens to be much younger than Rodgers, to boot.
To me, that would make more sense, given that Lamar Jackson could then presumably be the starting quarterback for Gang Green for years to come. It might satisfy their apparent desire to start winning and competing immediately, without reducing that window of opportunity to one or two years, which likely would be the case with Rodgers.
Makes sense. So why are the Jets so seemingly exclusively fixated on Rodgers, who frankly looked comparatively pedestrian last season than he has in many past seasons, when h was undeniably great. It just seems to me incredibly (and unnecessarily) risky.
Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
