This is the second part of yesterday's The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.
Earlier, I posted the first part, where Stewart tears into the Democrats for their ineffective lack of any real response to Trump's naked aggression in pursuing more power and effectively becoming a dictator. In this second part, Stewart discusses the political impotence of the Democrats with Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, who is himself a Democrat.
Murphy surprised me with some things. He approached healthcare with a common sense approach. He also admonished Democrats for effectively silencing Bernie Sanders and trying to minimize his political agenda at a time when it was clear that Sanders and his message were resonating with people, based on the thousands and thousands of people his rallies would draw.
In short, this felt like a rare bit of political honesty and actual perspective from what feels like, frankly, an unlikely source: a Washington politician.
Murphy was impressive in this interview. Admittedly, I do not know all that much about him, so I am not about to lose my head and suggest that he should run for president, or anything. Still, the message resonated, and it was refreshing to hear something like this from a Washington insider, for once.
Take a look and see what you think.
Enjoy.
