Yesterday was the spring equinox.
When I was young, people used to suggest that you knew it was finally spring when you saw the first robin bird of the new season. Sure enough, I saw a few robin birds earlier this week.
However, one other measure of spring (for me, anyway) is when I start to see turtles. Maybe that sounds strange, but yeah, that has been my experience.
In recent weeks, I have been doing a lot of walking. And in recent days, I have seen a number of turtles, which feels like a sure sign of spring to me.
Below are some of the pictures that I took of those turtles. The first one was of a baby. It's difficult to appreciate just how tiny this little guy was through these pictures. But he could have fit in the palm of my hand rather easily.
The other turtles in these pictures were far bigger and clearly more mature.
