A Brief Stay in Chevigny le Désert, Bierry-les-Belles-Fontaines, Bourgogne (Burgundy), France

Figured that maybe it was time to post some pictures of my cousin's village, which I had never been to before. It is called Chevigny le Désert, and is a part of the larger town, Bierry-les-Belles-Fontaines, in Bourgogne (Burgundy), France.

My cousin had moved here from Bretagne (Brittany), which is that region of France with the arm sticking out, if you will, a peninsula reaching out towards Great Britain. The climate is similar to Great Britain, and there are other similarities, as well. Hence, the similarities with the name.

She moved from there to here to be closer to her mom, who lives in the nearby city of Dijon, a city I have yet to visit as of now. During this past trip, I passed by close to it. Really close, in fact.

Time was tight, and I simply was not able to put aside some time to pay the city a visit, which I hope to change someday. Yes, it is a city which feels like it would certainly be worth a visit someday.

Anyway, she herself described Chevigny le Désert, where she has lived for a few years now, as a hamlet, belonging to the larger town of Bierry-les-Belles-Fontaines. What jumps out at you about this hamlet is that, in fact, it not only is tiny and isolated, but that a number of homes inside stand empty. My guess is that it really is too far away from everything, including job opportunities.
