NFL 2019-20 Season Opener Preview

Well, here it is. Yes, it is that time of the year again.

Labor Day weekend just passed, school is open again, and now, there is NFL football.

Yes, summer is basically over, even though these are those weird three or so weeks after Labor Day when it no longer really feels fully like summer, even though the calendar suggests that we still have those three weeks of it left, at least officially.

But tonight, the NFL season kicks off once the Bears and Packers get under way.

So, who will win?

Here is my prediction:

 Green Bay Packers

Chicago Bears

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears  Fittingly, the NFL kicks off it's historical 100th season by reviving it's oldest rivalry. Yes, two of the most storied franchises in the league - the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears - will meet tonight in the opening game of the season. Usually, the defending Super Bowl champions (which would be the New England Patriots, right now) would get to open the season first with a home game to begin their title defense season. But given the historical significance of this season, and of this rivalry perhaps in particular to open this season with, we can forgive the NFL that breach of protocol, right? Da Bears easily won the NFC North last season with a 12-4 record. They showed real improvement on offense, as Mitch Trubitsky is beginning to come unto his own. But the real strength for this Chicago team is their defense, which is one of the league's best. Meanwhile, the Packers look to return back to playoff form with a healthy Aaron Rodgers back at the helm. With him at quarterback, the Pack is always dangerous. Just ask the Bears, who remember only too well that epic comeback in last year's opener that allowed Green Bay an improbable comeback win after falling behind behind by 20 points. It seems that the Pack always has Chicago's number. But the Bears have home field advantage, they have the defense, and they have the revenge factor on their side. Plus, they managed to finally beat Green Bay late last season, and should know that they can beat this team. They want to start this new season off on the right foot with a home victory over their biggest, most hated rivals in front of their home fans, and I give them the edge to do exactly that. My prediction: Chicago Bears Win
