New York Islanders Knocked Out By Tampa Bay in Overtime of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals

It’s over in the East, now.

Yes, the Tampa Bay Lightning continued an impressive postseason run, trying to erase the memory of a historic collapse last season, when they enjoyed one of the most incredible regular seasons, before shockingly getting swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team that barely qualified for the playoffs, in the first round.

The Lightning were intent on erasing those memories as much as possible by plowing through the Eastern Conference to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. They officially punched their ticket last night with an overtime win to officially put away the New York Islanders.

Now, Tampa Bay will face the Dallas Stars, with the winner ultimately hoisting the Stanley Cup for the second time in franchise history. Both teams have won the Cup once before, with the Stars having won it in 1999, and the Lightning having won it in 2004.
