🏈 NFL 2020 Week 1 Preview:🏈

🏈🏈🏈🏈

So, here we are. Week one in NFL action.

Already, the Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champs, defeated the Texans in the opening game of the new season. Now, the first Sunday, and we have thirteen games to keep up with.

Here are my predictions for week one action in the NFL:

NY Jets at Buffalo - I would like to think that the Jets will improve this season, perhaps even significantly. But this simply is a brutal way to open up this season. The Bills look like the most complete team in the AFC East, and they will obviously be fired up in their first home game to get this very promising season off in the right foot. My suspicion is that they will prove to be a bit too much for the Jets to handle. My prediction: Buffalo

Cleveland at Baltimore - The Browns should  be an improved team this year.  Maybe they can even contend for a playoff spot.  But this is a very difficult game to open up the season with.  My prediction: Baltimore

Las Vegas at Carolina - It still feels weird to refer to them as the Las Vegas Raiders. They have had their share of problems in recent years,  but they look to be improved going into this season.  They should be able to get past the Panthers.  My prediction: Las Vegas

Indianapolis at Jacksonville - The Colts are a good team that got a little tripped up towards the end of last season.  But they seem to  be better this time around.  Getting off to a good start with a divisional game against the Jaguars should help.  prediction: Indianapolis

Miami at New England - The Patriots are different than this season than they have been in recent seasons. This team was one of the most accomplished teams over the past two decades, yet there is a feeling that this is a different era now for the team. But Belichick is still there, and I would not underestimate his ability to get his team ready. For all intents and purposes, this is the big sneak peak for the new era of the Patriots, and they are at home, and against a very familiar opponent.  My prediction: New England

Seattle at Atlanta - The Falcons just really never recovered from that infamous Super Bowl collapse years ago.  This may be the last real stand of that once promising team.  This season will likely get off to a rough start against  the Seahawks. My prediction: Seattle

Philadelphia at Washington  - Washington has a new name (well, no name), and maybe can produce new results,  to boot.  But the Eagles are good,  with playoff experience.  Look for Philly to pull off the divisional away win. My prediction: Philadelphia

Chicago at Detroit - The Lions seem  to be back to losing regularly. Whether or not Stafford can stay healthy,  I am just not sold on the Lions being decent.  They always seem to let me down, even though I would like to see them succeed. Likely another long year in Detroit will begin with a home loss to start the new season. My prediction: Chicago

Green Bay at Minnesota - The Packers surprised many people last season. But  they will not surprise so many this time around. Traditionally,  they struggle on the road in Minnesota.  But they are still a good team,  and I expect them to win this one. My prediction: Green Bay

Arizona at San Francisco - The defending NFC champs will host the up and coming Arizona Cardinals. Arizona might become  a force in this league in time.  But they are not ready yet to make a big splash.  Plus,  this is a very difficult way to open up the new season.  My prediction: San Francisco

Tampa Bay at New Orleans -  The Saints look  to be one of the favorites this season.  They have struggled against Tampa in recent years.  But they are only too aware of that,  and should be well prepared to take this one. My prediction: New Orleans

LA Chargers at Cincinnati - The Chargers no  longer have Rivers, while the Bengals are likely contenders for the first pick in the draft.  By default,  I'll take the Chargers in this game. My prediction: LA Chargers

Sunday Night Football

Dallas at LA Rams - The Cowboys look as solid heading into a new season as they have in a long time.  This team should not only be a playoff contender,  but even a real Super Bowl contender.  Look for them  to make an early statement with this game.  My prediction: Dallas
