The location of the event which I was to work at was one of the most lavish and swanky homes in all of Beverly Hills. It is the Hearst Estate (or the Hearst House), also known as the Beverly estate.
This place has some real history to it. Here, according to Wikipedia (see link below):
The estate was designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann[4] and was the residence of actress Marion Davies and her partner William Randolph Hearst.
I knew that this was the house where some of the most memorable and important scenes in "The Godfather" were supposed to take place. That includes the scene that everyone remembers, with the decapitated horse's head next to the guy in bed when he wakes up.
Indeed, it is a beautiful estate. You can understand why it was used in numerous movies, including of course "The Godfather" as well as the 1992 movie, "The Bodyguard." Also, it is where John F. Kennedy and his new wife Jacqueline enjoyed their honeymoon in 1953.
Luckily, I managed to snap some shots of this magnificent place both during the day, as well as at night, right at the end of my shift. Most are of the house and the surrounding parts on top of the hill, although some are of the property on the bottom of the hill. This is an 8-acre property overall, so it is quite sizeable. These pictures illustrate that, I believe. They seemed worth sharing here, since this place figures largely during my trip to southern California.
Enjoy.
