Concert Review: Jeff Lynn’s ELO in Philadelphia – September 21, 2024

Recently, I went to see Jeff Lynn’s ELO in Philadelphia. Specifically, I attended the show on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Having never seen the Electric Light Orchestra before, and having heard that this tour, "The Over and Out Tour," would indeed be the last opportunity to see them, I decided to go ahead and get these tickets. For whatever the reason, the price for these tickets were far cheaper than the other show in Philly, and much, much cheaper than those at MSG, which was really my only other option.

So I got the tickets.

Of course, I had grown up with much of their music. That includes "Evil Woman," "Don't Bring Me Down," and a number of others. "Mr. Blue Sky" was also phenomenal, and the fact that the song was recently used in a commercial promoting California tourism, really got me in the mood. And songs that perhaps are not quite as famous or iconic, like "Last Train to London."

Fantastic stuff.

The music was in tune and sounded sweet, while the light show almost reminded me a bit of Pink Floyd many years ago.

This is a band with a unique and interesting style and sound, and they delivered beautifully on this night.
