NFL 2024-25 Week 2 MNF Review & Week 3 Thursday Night Preview

🏈🏈🏈🏈

Here is my review of the Monday Night Football contest between the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as my prediction for the Thursday Night Football game set to be played as the first game of the third week of the 2024-25 season:

Monday Night Football: Atlanta 22, Philadelphia 21 - The Eagles were, I had believed, the better of these two teams overall. Still probably believe that, although the Falcons proved to be the better team at least on that day. Kirk Cousins had himself a very good day, underscoring exactly why Atlanta brought him on board. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns. By way of comparison, Jalen Hurts was not quite as effective, completing 23 of 30 passes for 183 yards and one TD, but also one INT. This really felt like a back and forth game, where the last team to have the football pretty much would win. And the Falcons had a touchdown drive in the final minutes, on their last possession, culminating in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Cousins to Drake London to give Atlanta the lead with just 34 seconds left. Game, set, and match. Philly, it feels to me, missed a golden opportunity to keep the momentum that they had built with the win over Green Bay in Brazil to open the season. But a solid win for the Falcons on the road against what I still presume to be a tough opponent. My pick: Inaccurate

Thursday Night Football Preview: New England Patriots at NY Jets - The Jets won that game over Tennessee in impressive fashion. That is likely the way that Gang Green will win such games. No fireworks, nothing spectacular, but a win is a win. Now, they have their home opener against the Pats, a team that had haunted this team until only quite recently. New England had won 15 games in a row in this rivalry, daying back to the days of Belichick and Brady at the end of their dynasty, until Gang Green went up to Foxboro and dominated the Pats late last season. Not sure if they will dominate like that this time around (although it would not be surprising). However, the Jets still feel to me like the better of these two teams, and they should enter with momentum, on top of it. That makes this a fairly easy pick, but we shall see if it proves right or not. My pick: NY Jets
