It was on this day, September 19th, back in 1990, that the band that would eventually become Pearl Jam really was started.
Indeed, the band members of what was then temporarily called the Mookie Blaylock Band selected Eddie Vedder as the lead vocalist of the band. That was a result of the former members of Mother Love Bone, Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, as well as guitarist Mike McCready, were able to hear the demo tape containing three tracks of their own music that they had recorded and sent to Vedder, and which he then had added vocals to.
This tape of three songs has become a part of the band's mythology. It is now famously referred to as the "Mamasan Trilogy," since it featured the three tracks that would become the earliest versions of now iconic Pearl Jam tracks Alive, Once, and Footsteps.
Just seemed like something worth noting on this day.
