A Visit to Liberty State Park on a Cold Winter's Day Empty Sky Memorial

Earlier this week, I visited the Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Having seen pictures in the newspapers of the Hudson River partially frozen, with chunks of ice floating and partially blocking, it seemed like something worth seeing.

As brutal as this winter has been at times, those chunks of ice were largely gone by the time I got there. There were some chunks here and there, but nowhere near the amount that the newspaper picture had shown from days earlier.

Still, I took some pictures. That includes the Empty Sky Memorial, New Jersey's memorial for the victims of September 11th. It was the first time that I saw it, and quite an experience.

Also, while ice chunks and mini-icebergs were nowhere to be seen on the Hudson on this particular day, snow was everywhere. And it seemed like a good opportunity nonetheless to get some winter shots of both the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline while snow was on the ground.

Below are the pictures.

Enjoy.
