Now admittedly, I do not always watch Late Night With Seth Myers. Or any other program that airs regularly, nightly.
For the most part, my faith in most major news sources and channels was lost a long time ago. Probably around the time that all of the major news media here in the United States were backing up the claims that George W. Bush had a serious case about Saddam Hussein and Iraq having Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD's). That was a huge failure, and Americans should have paid much closer attention, both before and after. At the very least, once you know that the administration was lying about WMD's, hold them accountable and - most importantly - admit to the mistake as a country. Demand accountability from news sources.
That did not happen, and the major media sources continued with their nonsense. And I just never really took them very seriously again.
Ironically, it was at about that time that comedians began to be taken more seriously as delivering some much needed truth and perspective to the American population. It makes sense, too, because with their two shows, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert seemed to be able to point out the ludicrous nature of major media coverage of Washington, and how politicians were routinely not held to account for their actions and lies.
So it continues today, seemingly. The major media - even those who allegedly are critical of Trump - nevertheless constantly give him an undeserved platform so that he can broadcast his lies and propaganda. Look how that's turned out.
Seth Myers is one of the best late night comedians remaining. He offers pointed criticism at Trump and major news media sources who never seem to hold this president to account. So while I admittedly am not a regular viewer, I do tune in every now and then, to see what he has to say.
And this particular one was really good. Funny, yet informative. And Meyers makes some very strong points along the way.
