It feels like the 21st century has seen many unfortunate trends. People feel like they have become generally dumber, and superficiality seems even more pronounced than it was late in the 20th century. That's saying something.
Yet, it does not help that we have very capable powers that be feeding the general public garbage, apparently to keep them deliberately misinformed.
Some will claim that this is politically biased, but it sure feels like this has been particularly true on the right, with the propaganda that has permeated all across American society now. Personally, I believe that it had it's roots with Reagan gutting the Fairness Doctrine. But by the time that FOX got the NFL and, somehow along with it, FOX News received new credibility, we were well on our way to what we have now.
And what we have now is propaganda which is everywhere, which is out of control. I don't think that a Trump presidency and this whole mindless MAGA cult is possible without this critical mass disinformation campaign.
