Pictures From the Northeastern Blizzard of 2026

So that was a pretty big storm, right? The first blizzard that this region has seen in nearly 10 years, since 2016. Surprisingly, we experience blizzards in this area only relatively rarely. We had one just days ago, had the one in 2016, had another one in 2006, and had a very famous one in 1996.

Somehow, I had assumed - apparently mistakenly - that they were more common that that.

Oh, well. Learn something new every day, right?

Anyway, it seems like these big snowstorms always seem to hit on weekends. Some people might be happy about that, already being off. Some might be annoyed about it, because they are off and wanted freedom of movement to do things, to be able to enjoy themselves.

For me, the weekends are a time when I generally work. Every other weekend is light, but that means that the alternative weekends are rough, where I work both jobs.

These storms seem to take place on those particular weekends, for some reason or another. What that translated to was work, work, work. My main job at least got us hotel rooms. Bonus: it was a hotel which I had always wanted to stay at, because aesthetically, from the outside, it looks like a castle.

From the inside? Not so impressive. Very standard rooms, but not standard prices. Through some kind of miscommunication, I had to put my first night on my card, and the room cost $200 per night, plus the $50 that they hold. Yes, I do intend to be reimbursed.

The second night was prepaid entirely, no confusion this time with it not showing that it had been prepaid on the company account. This time, it was $300 a night. Maybe some people would not hesitate to book a room at that price. For me, that's pretty expensive.

Now, the last hotel they booked us at  - which was right down the road for that January storm - had far better rooms for cheaper. Plus, they offered complimentary continental breakfast. We had nice hot eggs and bacon and sausage and coffee. This hotel told me they offered breakfast at $22, if interested.

Interested in a breakfast for $22?

Not really, no. Even if it's on the company account, it feels a bit on the pricey side to me.

Anyway, I did not really get much of a chance to get pictures in a more natural setting or anything during this storm, because again, I was working. In fact, I did three doubles this past weekend.

You better believe that I'm tired right now.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the castle-like hotel that I stayed at this weekend. Here are some pictures of the hotel, as well as the accumulated snow.

Hope everyone out there is well, and if you were in this storm, you got through it relatively painlessly, as well.

Below are the pictures.

Enjoy.
