Pam Bondi joined the Trump White House after the 2024 campaign in which one of the major themes was to release the Epstein Files. Fill transparency. Exposing the elites, remember?
To that end, Bondi suggested early in 2025, once Trump was in power, that the Epstein Files were on her desk and soon would be released.
But that was before the White House changed course dramatically and then refused to release the files. They bent over backwards to try not releasing them, or at least not fully. Then to redact them, heavily. Very heavily.
Trump rationalized that some innocent people, presumably, would be hurt by the release of the Epstein Files. Then he claimed it was all a Democratic Hoax, which made me wonder why the Democrats would not have used the Epstein Files against Trump during the 2024 election. Then Trump has repeatedly dismissed questions and concerns about the Epstein Files, claiming that most people wanted to move on, even insulting those among his own supporters who remained fixated, calling them "stupid."
All of this smacks of a cover-up. Clearly, there are powers that be who seem worried that releasing the files will compromise them and their power and privileged position. And the fact that nobody has been charged or prosecuted sure sounds really suspect.
Naturally, questions arise. And when Pam Bondi went before a House Judiciary Committee earlier this month, she was asked questions about it. About why she has not done more.
Typical of Trump officials, she relied on angry tantrums and distractions to try not to answer and divert attention away. One of the things she said betrayed the Trump administration's elitist approach to economics, always focusing on stock market numbers instead of how real Americans actually are doing financially.
Here is what she said:
“The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. Americans 401ks and retirement savings are booming. That’s what we should be talking about.”
Not surprisingly, this became infamous. And has become a source of mockery of Bondi and the Trump administration more generally.
It seems clear that Bondi is repeating Trump's mantra whenever he is faced with any bad news or compromising inquiries, particularly regarding the Epstein Files. Just say something to the effect that nobody cares, then play victim. Trump says that the Epstein Files are a big hoax, much like he claims climate change is a hoax. Then he urges people to talk about the supposed positives, and he always talks about accomplishments of his administration in terms of their being legendary.
Except that they are not legendary, and everyone knows it. He promised to lower the price of gas and groceries, and then seemed pretty much to put that on the backburner. Meanwhile, Americans kept paying higher and higher prices for things, in part because of the tariffs which Trump himself placed on a huge number of other countries. Quite typically, he wants credit for anything and everything good, and never wants blame for anything bad.
Plus, the stock market numbers reinforce just how tone deaf this administration is to begin with. Most Americans are not getting richer because the stock market numbers are solid. In fact, most Americans are struggling, again in part because of Trump's economic policies, including his ill-advised tariffs and tax breaks and incentives for huge corporations and the wealthiest Americans.
Also, none of that will ultimately get people to forget Trump's apparent guilt regarding the Epstein Files. His conduct since promising to release the files as a candidate in 2024 sure looks and feels like a coverup. And that forces everyone to wonder just what this guy was doing to be mentioned in the Epstein Files tens of thousands of times.
Bondi's role is pretty much almost as disgusting. Now, she is clearly trying to protest pedophiles. She is helping with the coverup. And this transparently tone deaf suggestion that Americans should focus on the stock market numbers instead of Trump's broken promise to release the Epstein Files - and why he is going to such extraordinary lengths to prevent them from being released - underscores just how absurd and out of touch this administration really is.
This will surely be a huge, even defining part of the legacy of the Trump administration.
Yet we are forced to sit on the sidelines while they continue to play these games.
At the very least, we can use humor to point out the absurdity of their arguments. Some of them have been quite funny, and seemed worth sharing here. Take a look:

Here are some other very funny posts. The first one is Tintin, one of my favorite childhood cartoons that I grew up on. He talks about the Dow as he faces the firing squad, moments away from execution:

Here's one with a serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer that also seemed worth sharing:
