Earlier, I published something about Trump's State of the Union address.
Yet, it was meant to be published before, not after. I just happened on it late last night - after making a point of NOT watching his stupid State of the Union - and added a few points of my own regarding what it likely would be like.
Indeed, what he delivered was predictable. It was the longest State of the Union in history. Trump beat his own previous record, of course. Come on, did you really think it could have been anyone else?
Man, that guy really likes the sound of his own voice, doesn't he? Give him a chance to be in the spotlight, and he will milk it as much as humanly possible.
And of course, according to him, America is Great Again. Because of him, of course. The economy is strong, people are united, everyone loves him and the job that he is doing, of course. Only losers and extremists could possibly be unhappy at the state of the country right now.
One thing I predicted which was not a certainty was that Trump would somehow bring up the Team USA Men's Hockey gold medal. For all intents and purposes, Trump seems to want to be associated with that, as if he was a part of it. Perhaps inspired them with the tremendous job that he is doing. That did end up happening.
Clearly, according to King Con Don, things have never been better in the country than they are right now. The only problem this country has are the Democrats. And Joe Biden, specifically, who was the worst president in history by far. And the illegals. And communist agitators. And Antifa, who are villainous and dastardly at every turn. And those stupid people who keep focusing on the Epstein Files, since according to Trump, the country is tired of this and ready to move on.
Swept under the rug: the fact that our national debt is at $38 trillion. Remember how Trump promised in 2016 to pay the national debt in eight years? Well, he increased the national debt by over 25% during his first term, then added several trillions more in just the first year of his second term.
But I'm sure that's just an oversight, right? Can't possibly be yet another in the long history of cons that he has pulled over people. And look, it's not like MAGA Nation is crumbling in their support of him. It's just that they are about the only ones left who really have faith in this guy.
Yeah, the stock market posts record numbers. But most Americans do not benefit from this. The price of groceries is still extremely high, and nowhere is the price of gas as low as King Con Don claims that it is.
According to Trump, the nation has never been more respected than it is right now around the world. But that flies in the face of reality, where the rest of the world clearly views the United States under Trump as having gone rogue. They forced Trump to back down on Greenland, and they are making trade deals with other countries specifically so that they do not have to deal with Trump's United States. What a good job, eh? What a man.
Trump just increased his unpopular tariffs, yet again. Because this man is nothing if not stubborn. Everyone hates them, both here and abroad. They have been disastrous and have shown him to be unpredictable and unstable, as he imposes them and then backs off, over and over again. The Supreme Court just ruled against his tariffs last week, so of course he imposes even higher tariffs early this week.
Because screw democracy and the systems of checks and balances that our democracy relies upon. But we have a man who is increasingly comfortable with referring to himself as a dictator. He claims not to be a king, but he sure acts like it. Indeed, he does act as if the law that imposes restrictions on his power is merely suggestive.
What a state of the union we are in.

But at least the President thinks everything is going great.
