Josh Allen Suggests That the Buffalo Bills Would Have Gotten Past the Patriots & Be Preparing for the Super Bowl Had They Beaten the Broncos at Mile High

While I had somewhat expected - and certainly hoped - that the Buffalo Bills would finally be in the Super Bowl again this postseason, their end came earlier than I wanted or expected.

Recently, quarterback Josh Allen suggested that had Buffalo beaten Denver, they would also have beaten the Patriots at Foxboro and would, right now, be heading to the Super Bowl.

And while I actually can see that and agree with it to some extent - I would have predicted the Bills to beat the Patriots in the AFC title game at Foxboro if the Bills had indeed beaten the Broncos - it feels pointless and possibly even disingenuous for him to suggest that now. 

The term "sour grapes" is what comes to mind.

Seriously, what's the point? After all, Allen was a big part of the reason why the Bills did not beat Denver and are not preparing for the Super Bowl right now. When you commit as many turnovers as Allen did in that game, maybe you try to be quiet and focus on doing your talking on the field next season.

He just sounds bitter and petty by making such comments.

I mean, don't get me wrong. Josh Allen is generally a likeable guy, so far as I can tell. But those comments really are not becoming of a quarterback who routinely has gotten bounced from the playoffs before the Super Bowl. Granted, it's not always his fault and, in fact, an obvious argument could be made that the Bills likely would not even have gone as far as they did in any of those seasons without Allen there.

That said, he also has cost his team at times with mistakes. And that game against Denver was one of those critical times.

So maybe just avoid making comments like this, that make you look petty and disrespectful of the Patriots? 

Granted, I was surprised by how far New England went this season. They are 60 good minutes away from a Super Bowl title. That's just not something that I foresaw.

However, that is how things have played out. The Pats were better than I thought, and better than Allen's seemingly too easy and quick dismissal of them suggests. You didn't get there, and the Pats did. let them have their moment in the sun.

Show some class and dignity. Maybe focus instead on perhaps leading the Bills to the Super Bowl, and having your moment in the sun in the hopefully not too distant future.
