The mainstream Democrats never seem to learn.
They have fallen into the trap of believing a whole bunch of nonsense, such as that Democrats who compete to cater with Republicans for the support of Wall Street banks and major corporations are the way to bring about some kind of meaningful change in this country. To me, that is so transparently, blatantly false, as to hardly be worth mentioning. Yet, it seems to escape a lot of people, who are buying into this mythical kind of thinking that Trump is the problem in this country, and if you remove him, then everything is golden again. As if Trump's political rise were some unthinkable abberation beyond understanding. His rise happened for a specific reasons. It took a lot of steps down from where we once were to allow a man like Trump to rise to power like that, and it will take steps - serious steps, now just words from polished politicians like Hillary or Biden or Buttigieg - to begin to actually seriously address these issues.
So that is why the latest debacle in Iowa is so disheartening. There were no results, they were supposedly being very careful this time, and yet, there are once again very strange occurrences that reveal a very undemocratic tendency being accepted among the party that calls itself the Democrats.
Then, they wonder why Bernie Sanders and his supporters do not trust or like them.

Yup, that sounds about right. Undermining faith in our elections, in our democratic institutions. Just a reminder that it is not only Republicans or especially Trump who pose a threat to American democracy as we once knew it.
