Last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, there was a memorial service for the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant, who were killed a few weeks ago during a helicopter crash in southern California.
There were many very famous people, including star basketball players, who seemed to have stories to share about memories with Kobe.
That included Shaquille O’Neal, who obviously used to be a teammate with Kobe when they played together on the Los Angeles Lakers. They won three straight NBA titles together from 2000-2002, something that O’Neal clearly still took pride in.
But he had a funny story to share about Kobe, one that seemed worth sharing here, as well.
According to O’Neal, some Lakers players asked him to talk to Kobe about passing the ball, so O’Neal said that he would. According to him, he told Kobe that there was no “I” in team.
Kobe agreed with him, but he then said that there was a “ME” in team. The crowd laughed.
Shaq then ended this humorous story by saying that he told those teammates just to hang keep the ball when they could, because Kobe was not going to pass the ball to them.
Just a humorous story that seemed worth sharing.
