L'Équipe de France looked as good and even dominant as anyone realistically could ask of them earlier today, as they cast aside Andorra in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
Les Bleus got started with a goal from Kylian Mbappé in the 11th minute to take an early lead.
Wissam Ben Yedder added to that lead with a goal in the 30th minute, and then Florian Thauvin gave the defending champions some cushion just before the half, scoring a goal in the first minute of extra time of the first half. France enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 lead by halftime.
Kurt Zouma then scored in the 60th minute to round out the scoring. Les Bleus managed to earn a convincing shutout win over their admittedly much smaller neighbor to the southwest.
Small or not, however, France earned itself a big win in an important game in which they could not afford a letdown. A solid performance overall.
Les Bleus did what was expected of them. Andorra's national stadium is tiny - the kind of venue where it doesn't much matter whether you're in the front row or all the way in the "back". It must be fun to see the reigning world champions in those conditions.
ReplyDeleteThat game was at the Stade de France?
DeleteNo, it was at the Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020_qualifying_Group_H
