Earlier today, I wrote about this being the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre that put a bloody end to the peaceful protests that had seemed on the verge of ushering major change in Communist China.
That ended a certain hope, perhaps.
Yet, memories of Tiananmen Square's 'Goddess of Democracy,' a large, makeshift statue that came to dominate the square, and which was constructed from plaster, papier-mache and plastic foam, has come to represent the most positive memories and hopes of the peaceful protesters, even after 30 years have now passed.
