President Donald Trump Feels Empowered to Commit Crimes With Impunity & With Support of Weak Republican Party

Okay, so there are some posts that I have not quite gotten to in the past few days, but which I have been meaning to get around to.

More than one of them have to do with the pending impeachment inquiries in Washington, over Trump’s criminal conduct, particularly in relation to his seeming enthusiasm and desire to get foreign nations intervening in the American elections. Remember, that call to the Ukraine, in which Trump clearly pressures Ukrainian President Monica Zelensky…err, I mean Vlodymyr Zelensky, to do him a favor (his words) and dig up some dirt on Joe Biden, right in time for the 2020 election, came a day after the end of the Mueller investigations that investigated Russian collusion, and from which some members of the Trump White House were imprisoned. Trump, of course has such a sense of impunity, that he invited foreign nations to get dirt on his political opponents right in front of the media on the White House lawn. And the Republicans, true to form, are standing by him, either out of opportunism or out of fear (or both), and putting the interests of the Republican party over that of the nation.

Surprised?

Yeah, neither am I. Hardly anything from Washington shocks me anymore these days. Surely, I am not the only one who feels this way.

So, here are some links to this ridiculous situation regarding Fake President Trump and his transparent, and clearly provocative, abuses of power.

I am starting off with this one, because this really got under my skin. It reminded me so much of how Americans continued to believe that there was some link between the 9/11 attacks and Iraq, even after everyone in the Bush administration, when pressed, denied any such links. Here, a majority of Republicans do not even believe that Trump so much as mentioned Biden during his call to the Ukrainian leader, even though Trump outright admitted to doing so. Talk about believing only what you want to believe and ignoring facts if they become inconvenient! There may be a lot of problems and a lot of things wrong in this country, but believing whatever you want to believe, facts be damned, has got to be pretty damn high on the list of the biggest problems:

Poll: Only 4 in 10 Republicans think Trump mentioned Biden on Ukraine call even though he acknowledged doing so by Maureen Groppe, USA TODAY, Oct. 1, 2019:

Here is the link to an article where another foreign head of state has confirmed that President Trump asked for help to gather information on Robert Mueller's investigation on collusion with Russia:

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed that US President Donald Trump asked him to help gather information for an inquiry into Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.  Australian PM confirms Trump asked for help investigating Mueller probe by afp.com, October 1, 2019:

Here is a hopeful one, from very early this year (before the Ukrainian Clown Posse controversy) in which the author predicts that Trump would simply resign his presidency in order to prevent anyone in his family - and especially himself, of course - from finding themselves behind bars. Hopefully, this is exactly how the Trump presidency, which is a real national nightmare, will indeed end:
