⚽️ ⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain 5, Club Brugge 0 ⚽️ ⚽️
PSG had a big test yesterday in UEFA Championsn League play against Club Brugge, who entered this game undefeated. You have to say that PSG passed this test with flying colors.
Recently, PSG has relied on Neymar bailing them out in the dying minutes of a game to lift them. But they did not need that this time around. In fact, Neymar did not score at all.
But two players did. French football superstar Kylian Mbappé did, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 61st, 79th, and 83rd minutes.
Mauro Icardi also scored, opening the scoring in the 7th minute, and adding another goal in the 63rd minute.
It was a fairly close game two-thirds of the way in, but France really poured it on in the final thirty minutes, for a convincing 5-0 win.
These two teams will meet again in Paris on November 6th. PSG now finds themselves in the driver's seat after this impressive win, as well as having gotten the best of Real Madrid.
PSG has all but clinched a spot in the second round. The only thing that's really at stake, barring an improbable fiasco in their next three Champions League games, is first place. The only one of those three matchups that seems especially daunting is the one against Real Madrid on the road. But if they manage to beat Club Brugge and Galatasaray at the Parc des Princes, mathematically they wouldn't even need to defeat Real – although that would be nice.
