⚽️ France 1 Turkey 1 ⚽️

France resumed play in recent days in Group H for Euro 2020 qualifying.

In a tough game at Turkey, where l'Equipe de France were embarrassed earlier this year, they managed a tie. Not the greatest result, but certainly not the worst result, either.

France actually broke through first when Olivier Giroud scored in the 76th minute to give the defending World Cup champions a 1-0 lead.

However, Kaan Ayhan managed to tie it up against with a goal in the 81st minute.

These two teams are tied atop the standing in Group H, and so the tie maintains that they remain locked atop the group.

This result followed just days after France defeated Iceland in Reykavic, 1-0. Olivier Giroud scored the only game of the goal in the 66th minute to give France the lead, which they secured for the win.  My brother actually was the one who informed me about that result, which I had not quite followed latterly.

  1. Les Bleus are suddenly looking a bit shaky. They needed a highly questionable penalty to beat Iceland in Reykjavik, then only managed a 1-1 draw against Turkey at the Stade de France. I thought that they would win by two or more goals, eager to avenge the earlier loss in Istanbul. Hopefully this is just a brief drop in form. At any rate they'll almost certainly qualify for next year's Euro, so hopefully they'll be at the top of their game there.
In other sports news, Sunday the 20th is going to be a big day: Le XV de France takes on Wales in the quarterfinal round of the Rugby World Cup in the wee hours of the morning (our time), then the Red Bulls head down to Chester, PA to take on the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Playoffs. Stay tuned...

    1. Hopefully Les Bleus will indeed play sharp when it matters most at the Euro next year. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the rugby match against Wales.
