A couple of days ago, my girlfriend decided that we should pose for a rare selfie, in front of the Christmas tree.
The tree itself has been at least partially destroyed by our newest cat, who is so completely taken by this strange phenomenon of both a tree in te house, and these weird, shiny things hanging from this tree. It is an irresistible playground for her, and she has taken to the habit of actually going in the tree, where the branches get weighed down. So, we had to take only the top part of the tree, which was much less damaged than the lower parts.
We enjoyed wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas meals at her friends and de facto family, from very nearby towns in her region of Poland (the Biesczcady. We enjoyed a peaceful evening on Christmas Eve.
Christmas evening itself, however, was a bit less peaceful. There was a serious argument that threatened to escalate, a reminder of just how easily holiday stress can take it's toll. The wife of the man involved with the serious family feud with his sister decided it was time to leave early, and pretty much everything ended at that time, as well.
Still, Christmas is a time for being with loved one and feeling gratitude for the blessings of life. We tried to do that, even under difficult circumstances. My son is spending the holiday season with my parents, which I think is good for everyone involved. I will be up there in a few days to celebrate a late kind of de facot Christmas, hopefully.
Here's hoping everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
