Trump Warns a Veto Against Restoring the Voting Rights Act

Earlier in his administration, many expressed surprise that Trump, a man who never showed any inclination towards limits to his own power, had barely used his veto power. It was at least a mild surprise for many.

So how surprising is it that when he now seems all too ready to use it, it would come in opposing something that symbolized growing equality and progress in American society?

Yeah, not really all that surprising at all, is it?

Indeed, Trump threatened to veto the restoral of the Voting Right Act.

Really, it is not all that shocking, because the party that he represents, and which now seems to have become the de facto Trump Party, has been focused on taking away rights guaranteed in the Constitution, particularly the Bill of Rights. They have tried to make voting conditional on all sorts of grounds, ranging from excluding people with prison records to proclaiming massive voter fraud, very frequently failing to provide a shred of evidence to back up these outlandish claims.
