⚽️ ⚽️ Saint-Etienne - Paris Saint-Germain ( 0-4 ) ⚽️ ⚽️
PSG continued it’s hot roll this weekend with a dominant 4-0 win over Saint-Étienne, who seemed completely overwhelmed.
Brazilian star Neymar got the scoring started with a goal in the 10th minute which gave PSG the early 1-0 lead.
Then, just before the first half ended, Kylian Mbappé scored another goal in the 43rd minute, giving PSG a decisive 2-0 lead into the lockers for halftime.
PSG’s defense held up throughout the second half, making the lead stand comfortably. Then, Mauro Icardi got a goal in the 72nd minute to give PSG a commanding 3-0 lead, with time running out on Saint-Étienne to pull off some kind of miraculous comeback.
Any remaining mystery was already over when Mbappé wrapped up the scoring with his second goal of the day to end the scoring and provide the final 4-0 margin for a solid win by PSG.
With the win, PSG remains ahead in Ligue 1 standings. They have earned 42 points in 17 games played, while the second place team, Olympique Marseille, has earned 35 points in 18 games. PSG has won their last five Ligue 1 games, and have not lost any game since a stunning 2-1 upset to Dijon early in November.

Aside from the copied-and-pasted title from your last entry regarding PSG – as you acknowledge immediately afterwards, this match wasn't against Montpellier, and it was hardly a come-from-behind win – you're right on target. PSG has clinched the largely symbolic distinction of being "champion d'automne", the honorary title attributed to the team atop the standings going into the winter hiatus. I'm looking forward to the second half of the season, particularly when they resume their Champions League campaign against Borussia Dortmund of Germany in the Round of 16.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out the discrepancy with the title, which I went ahead and fixed. Had not noticed, for whatever the reason.
