⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique Lyonnais For Sixth Straight Win in Perfect Start to Season ⚽️

        ⚽️ ⚽️ Paris Saint-Germain   ⚽️  ⚽️

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is off to an incredible start for this new season. They have played six matches to this point, and have won each one of these matches. No draws, no losses, just a perfect record after six matches.

Yet for a while, it was not clear that PSG’s perfect start would necessarily hold up. Olympique Lyonnais held PSG to a scoreless tie through the first half. And when someone finally did break through, it proved to be Olympique Lyonnais, when  Lucas Paquetá broke through and scored to give Lyon the 1-0 lead early in the second half.

But PSG is undefeated for a reason. They did not panic, and knew that they had more than enough in their arsenal to get past this obstacle. So it was not surprising when Paquetá’s Brazilian teammate, Neymar, managed to tie the game just minutes later, in the 66th minute.

It remained deadlocked in that 1-1 tie until PSG’s Mauro Icardi managed to pull off the thrilling winning score in the second minute of extra time, lifting PSG to yet another victory to remain perfect to this point.

Not surprisingly, PSG sits atop the Ligue 1 standings as a result of their hot start. They have earned 18 points from their six games, and are ahead of second place Olympique Marseille, who have compiled 13 points from their five games to date. Lens is in third place with 12 points in six games, followed by Angers with 11 points earned in six games.

PSG will next play Metz this Wednesday, and have a date with Montpelier this coming Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

  1. The tying goal from Neymar was actually a penalty, and when I watched the highlights on YT, it wasn't clear to me that the penalty was warranted. But yes, PSG is off to an impressive start, and I believe they would have at least salvaged a draw even without being awarded the penalty.

In other sports news, the Jets pretty much sucked from start to finish yesterday. Some fans are apparently turning on Zach Wilson already, though I feel that's premature. But he needs to stop being overly aggressive by throwing lots of high-risk, deep passes to guys who are being well guarded, because that led to a number of disastrous interceptions.

    1. Didn't know that about the penalty kick. Still a great start to the season. And yes, I agree that fans booing Wilson is premature. That said, yeah, he needs to cut out some of those it's. But the Jets as a team were just awful in that game. How are you doing otherwise?

  2. Yes, that they were. As for me, I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and stops my mind from wandering where it will go.

    1. I've always found that Beatles lyrics encompass the state of one's life, as well.
