⚽️ L'Equipe de France Mounts Comeback Against Belgium to Advance to Nation's League Final ⚽️

πŸ†πŸ‡«πŸ‡·  On est les Champions ! πŸ†πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

For the first time since their 2018 World Cup semifinals showdown, France and Belgium met in the Nation's League Semifinal on Thursday.

As surely everybody knows by now, France won that one and went on to win their second ever World Cup title. But it was not looking good for France for quite a while in this particular semifinal. Indeed,  Yannick Carrasco broke through first in this game for Belgium in the 37th minute, ending a scoreless deadlock to that point.

Then just a few minutes later, Romelu Lukaku followed that up with a spectacular goal in the 40th minute, and Belgium was rolling. It sure looked like they were running on all cylinders. The first half ended like that, with Belgium on top, 2-0. France needed to get something going in the second half if they hoped to mount any kind of a comeback.

At that point, you might be forgiven if you believed that the route was on, that Belgium was hot, and well on their way to getting some serious and convincing revenge for their defeat by France in the World Cup semifinal round a few years ago.

Yet, Karim Benzema sparked just a little bit of hope for Les Bleus in the 62nd minute by scoring the first goal of the game for the defending World Cup champions.

Then, Kylian MbappΓ© broke through for France again in the 69th minute off a penalty. France had managed not only to tie the game, but wrest away the momentum from Belgium, to boot.

Both teams had some opportunities very late in the game to score a dagger in the heart kind of a goal. Ultimately, however, it was France's Theo Hernandez who broke through in the 90th minute for what proved to be the deciding goal, cementing an impressive comeback win for Les Bleus.

With the win, France will now play Spain in the Final tomorrow.

Allez les Bleus!
