It was not exactly like the game made up for PSG getting swept by Manchester City in two games in the UEFA semifinal round earlier this year.
However, it surely must be satisfying for PSG to have exacted some measure of revenge on Tuesday, blanking Manchester City, 2-0.
Idrissa Gueye got things going early, scoring the first goal of the game in the 8th minute to give PSG an early 1-0 lead. That is how it remained through the rest of the first half.
Then, it was finally the turn of newly arrived star Lionel Messi to score the clinching goal in the 74th minute. It was Messi’s first goal with his new club.
PSG was able to hang on the rest of the way for the win.
