🏈 NFL 2021-22 Week 7 TNF Review: Browns Hold Off Reeling Broncos in Cleveland 🏈

🏈🏈🏈🏈

Cleveland 17, Denver 14

The Browns had to play this game without star quarterback Baker Mayfield, and it would be interesting to see how they would respond.

Now, we saw. They won the game, although it should be noted that they hardly scored a ton of points here. Also, while they again did win, they did not do it against top competition, and it took all the way to the end of the game to secure the win here. No offensive fireworks, and no lopsided statement win.

Still, a win is a win.

Cleveland held onto the ball for almost 37 minutes, picking up 23 first downs to just 16 for Denver. The Browns also outgained the Broncos, 376 yards to just 223 for Denver. The Broncos also committed one turnover, while the Browns had none.

In place of the injured Mayfield, Case Keenum completed 21 of 33 yards for 199 yards and one touchdown. D’Ernest Johnson was also very strong on the ground, picking up 146 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries, really shining in the absence of Kareem Hunt, and helping Keenum out quite a bit.

In a losing cause for Denver, Teddy Bridgewater completed 23 of 33 passes for 187 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Denver’s running game was not very strong on this day, although the offense did show serious improvement in the second half, even making a game of it late in the fourth quarter.

Still, their late effort was a case of too little, too late.

Cleveland snaps a two-game losing streak, and now improve to 4-3 on the season, getting back to have a winning record. They will next host the Steelers. As for Denver, they now have dropped four straight after an impressive 3-0 start to the season. The Broncos will host the Washington Football Team at Mile High in their next game.

My pick: Inaccurate
