Sarah Huckabee Sanders Not Yet Ready To Endorse Former Boss Trump

When you have numerous prominent former members of a White House administration who refuse to endorse their old boss for another run for the presidency, that should tell you something. In the case of Donald Trump, you have quite an impressive number of them, including (but not necessarily limited to) former Vice-President Mike Pence, Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, former head of the Trump transition planning team Chris Christie, and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

And those are just some of the names on the list. In fact, the list of former Trump political allies turned critics is actually quite extensive (see for yourself by clicking on this link: The long list of Trump administration officials turned critics Maegan Vazquez By Maegan Vazquez, CNN Updated 2:59 PM EDT, Fri June 5, 2020: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/04/politics/officials-who-criticized-donald-trump/index.html)

Chris Christie, once one of the earliest prominent political allies of Trump, has become one of the strongest and most consistent critics of Trump in recent years. His latest shot at Trump was during the former president's speech at CPAC, in which Christie suggested that the meager attendance there betrayed the president's declining popularity and political prominence:

"You saw the scenes at CPAC, that room was half-full," Christie said during an appearance on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

Christie said that "only the most desperate people showed up at CPAC to even speak, other than Trump or people within Trump's orbit."

In addition, Former Donald Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway is giving advice to Ron DeSantis, and suggesting that she sees a ‘Ron DeSantis lane’ to the White House in 2024. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of her former boss, either.

Well, we might be adding yet another name to the list. At the very least, there is some serious reluctance on the part of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the longest-serving White House press secretary during the Trump administration.

To be sure, she did not actively criticize her former boss, or reject endorsing him, specifically, as was the case with most of the other people mentioned above. But I think it's fair to say that there is a reason why Sanders is, at the very least, hesitating to support Trump. Almost assuredly, she would not hesitate for a moment if he were indeed anywhere near as popular as he always claims to be, or if she felt that it would be very politically profitable for her to do so.

As of right now, the only major political ally and member of the Trump White House who has remained loyal to Trump throughout would be Giuliani. And frankly, it feels like Giuliani is, himself, a political liability at this point. These days, when I think of the man once known as "America's Mayor," it's still hard for me to get those intense - borderline insane - eyes and that black hair dye (assuming it's hair dye, anyway) leaking down his face. It hardly feels like he would really help Trump's case for another team in the White House again.

Let's hope that enough people - particularly those who identify as conservatives - see that, at the very least, all of this sure seems to be a sign that the country is ready to move on from the Trump years. That Trump and his shenanigans are a part of this country's past, where they should stay. There is a reason why he never reached 50 percent approval ratings officially, and there is a reason why he lost the 2020 election, specifically. And it has nothing to do with his own claims of massive voter fraud.

Will people see all of this and learn their lesson? Only time will tell. After all, if there has ever been a man who showed exactly how unqualified he was to hold the highest office, yet still somehow managed to obtain it, it would be Trump. And he evidently is still often seen as the frontrunner for the Republican ticket in 2024. So let's just see what happens.
