The legendary punk club CBGB, first opened on the Lower East Side in New York City on this day, back in 1973. That was exactly 50 years ago today.
In time, it came to be known as the birthplace of punk music. The iconic venue hosted it's final concert on October 15, 2006, when Patti Smith played there.
I never actually attended a show there, admittedly. It would have been nice to have gone at least once and seen a show.
Still, it is a part of music history, and seemed worth mentioning here.
