NY Jets 30, Houston 6 - Out of nowhere, the Jets snapped what felt like a massive five-game losing streak. the offense played the way that they perhaps should have been capable of playing far more often this season. And the defense - the strength of the team - put on a clinic against one of the most dangerous and explosive offenses in the league. A big win for Gang Green, although it's still probably too little, too late. At least in regards to qualifying for the postseason, anyway. Still, a solid win, and Zach Wilson looked like the quarterback the Jets thought that they were picking up when they drafted him. My pick: Inaccurate
Cleveland 31, Jacksonville 27 - A tremendous win for the Browns overa quality team. The Jaguars are the AFC South division leaders, after all. But the Browns took care of business and persevered in a back and forth contest. A solid win for Cleveland, and a disappointing loss for the Jaguars, which is in fact their second straight loss. My pick: Accurate
Cincinnati 34, Indianapolis 14 - The Bengals played extremely well in this one. They took care of the Colts, and convincingly at that. With the win, they kept in relatively good condition to qualify for the postseason, while setting the Colts back a bit in the process. My pick: Inaccurate
Tampa Bay 29, Atlanta 26 - Big, important divisional showdown, and it resulted in a surprise (at least for me). It was a back and forth game, but I thought that the Falcons would take care of business at home against the Bucs. However, they did not. The result is a three-way tie between these two teams and the Saints, who also won yesterday, atop the NFC South. My pick: Inaccurate
New Orleans 28, Carolina 6- The Saints took care of business in dominant fashion, handling the team with the worst overall record in the league at home in the Big Easy. With this win, coupled with the Bucs win over the Falcons, the Saints find themselves in a three-way tie atop the NFC South. And they will play both of those teams later this season. Interesting! My pick: Accurate
Baltimore 37, LA Rams 31 (OT) - What a game this one proved to be. Both teams clearly fought hard and wanted to win. It was a back and forth game, and both teams showed heart and character. In the end, the Ravens proved to be just a little better, and earned the win in overtime. A setback for the Rams, but if they keep playing as well as they have been playing in recent weeks, this is probably a playoff team. My pick: Accurate
Chicago 28, Detroit 13 - The Bears played very well in this game. The offense produced some decent points, and the defense contained that dangerous Detroit offense. Just a solid, all around game by the Bears. It probably will not be enough to get them seriously back into the playoff race this season, but it sure seems like a clear sign that this team is seriously improving. As for the Lions, they once owned a very comfortable lead in the division, but might see that lead down to just one game should the packers win tonight in the Meadowlands against the G-Men. My pick: Inaccurate
Minnesota 3, Las Vegas 0 - Surely, this will be the lowest scoring game of this season. It is one of the lowest scoring games that I can remember. It remained a scoreless game until fairly late in the fourth quarter, when the Vikings finally broke through with a field goal. Perhaps not most people's idea of an exciting game. But the Vikings and Raiders both played solid defense, and the win helps the Vikings chances of qualifying for the postseason in a big way. If the season ended today, they would be in. My pick: Accurate
Seattle at San Francisco 28, Seattle 16 - The 49ers earned another win. it was a fairly tough challenge by the Seahawks, but the Niners managed it nevertheless. This win puts them in the top seed, at least for the moment, in the NFC. This loss was another setback for the Seahawks, who would miss the playoffs if the season ended today. My pick: Accurate
Buffalo 20, Kansas City 17 - The Bills always play the Chiefs tough, and did it again here in this one. It was a tough win, with a very controversial ending, one where quarterback Patrick Mahomes seemed to lose his cool at the end, seemingly going after the refs after a call he clearly did not like. Still, a win is a win for the Bills, and they remain very much alive for the postseason race. They will probably need some help still, but this is the type of win that shows what they are capable of. if they go 3-1 the rest of the way, that should be good enough to get them to qualify, I would think. My pick: Accurate
Denver at LA Chargers - It's sure beginning to feel as if the Broncos are destined for the postseason. They took care of the Chargers here, and convincingly, dominating the Chargers in Los Angeles, and earning their first AFC Divisional road win since the 2019 season. The Chargers, meanwhile, look almost dead in the water at this point in time. My pick: Accurate
Sunday Night Football: Dallas 33, Philadelphia 13 - The huge NFC East showdown ended in favor of Dallas. How quickly things can change. Just eight days ago, the Eagles owned the best record in the NFL, with a two-game margin of comfort. Now, two blowout losses in a row, and they are only tied with the Cowboys atop the NFC East, and both trail the 49ers for the race for the top seed in the NFC. The Cowboys played extremely well, as the defense kept Philly's dangerous and explosive offense without a TD. A solid win for the 'Boys. The Eagles, meanwhile, need to regroup. My pick: Accurate
