NFL 2023 - 24 Week 15 Thursday Night Football Preview: Playoff Picture Set to Gain Greater Clarity

🏈🏈🏈🏈

Las Vegas Raiders 63, LA Chargers 21

Minnesota at Cincinnati - Wow, what a game this one should be! Both teams are desperately fighting to try and reach the playoffs. As a result, neither team can really afford to lose a game at this point. Both have been playing quite decently in recent weeks. Cincy has won two games in a row, and are just outside of the AFC playoff picture. The Vikings had won five games in a row before inexplicably losing two games in a row. But they beat the Raiders last weekend in what surely will be the NFL's lowest scoring contest this season, as the Vikings won with a late field goal that proved to be the only points scored by either team in the entire game. So expect the Vikings defense to play tough. I suspect that this one will come down to the fourth quarter, and should remain close to the end. However, the home team feels like the one with the advantage in this one, and that's why I expect the Bengals to win. My pick: Cincy

NY Giants at New Orleans - Interesting game. Can the G-Men keep their hot streak alive and win a tough road game in the Big Easy? Will Devito keep his Cinderella run going? Or will the Saints take a step closer to trying to win the unstable and weak NFC South? I am actually expecting Big Blue to pull off an upset here. My pick: NY Giants

NY Jets at Miami - Gang Green try to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive against the Dolphins, who suffered that stunning loss to the Titans in the final minutes of the game last weekend. I suspect that the Jets show up and play tough, but that the Fins come up with it in the end. My pick: Miami

Denver at Detroit - An intriguing game. The Broncos need a win to keep their playoff hopes, and slimmer division hopes, alive. Meanwhile, the Lions need to win to bounce back from that disappointing loss last weekend, and also hope to retain a higher seed in the NFC. This one is tough to predict. Going with the road team pulling off an upset here. My pick: Denver

Atlanta at Carolina - The Falcons have been a fairly decent team all season, and are in the thick of the NFC South playoff and divisional title race. They go up against arguably the worst team in the league. This should be a win for the Falcons. My pick: Atlanta

Pittsburgh at Indianapolis - This game has a lot of playoff ramifications. Both teams need this win. The Steelers need to bounce back from two shocking home losses against lowly teams. The Colts need to bounce back from last weekend's loss. Could go either way, but I give the nod to the home team. My pick: Indianapolis

Chicago at Cleveland - The Bears have been improving as of late. But the Browns feel like a playoff bound team this season. They should prove why that is the case with an important home win here, which they cannot afford to lose. My pick: Cleveland.

Kansas City at New England - This would have been a hell of a game a few years ago. Now, this one feels like a mismatch. The Pats likely do not match up well with a Chiefs team absolutely needing a win after two straight losses. My pick: Kansas City

Houston at Tennessee - Another interesting game. It depends on how well Houston quarterback Case Keenum plays. But the Titans feel like a dangerous team after they stunned the Dolphins in Miami last weekend. And they could do the same this weekend in this game. My pick: Tennessee

Tampa Bay at Green Bay - The Battle of the Bays. Both teams need this one. The Bucs are hoping to take the NFC South once again, while the Pack need this win to keep their flickering playoff hops alive. I like the Bucs on the road for the upset win. My pick: Tampa Bay

San Francisco at Arizona - The Cardinals have Kyler Murray back. But this season is obviously a lost cause for them. And the 49ers are rolling, with one of the top-rated defenses in the league. They should be able to take this one. My pick: San Francisco

Washington at LA Rams - The Rams lost a hugely disappointing game last weekend at Baltimore, but it took overtime for the Ravens to win it. Los Angeles has looked incredible in recent weekends, and I expect them to be able to beat the Commanders in this one, as well. My pick: LA Rams

Dallas at Buffalo - Remember when this was a rivalry back in the early nineties? Well, a lot is riding in this game as well. Both teams need the win. Buffalo should be a touch place to play, although the temperatures are not expected to be brutal. Still, it will be soggy. I expect the home team to come up with the goods. My pick: Buffalo

Sunday Night Football: Baltimore at Jacksonville - The Ravens are one of the hottest teams in the league. Meanwhile, Jax is on a slide, and they desperately need a win right now. Home field advantage should help. But this could go either way. My pick: Baltimore

Monday Night Football: Philadelphia at Seattle - It has been a rough few weeks for the Eagles. They were 10-1, and enjoyed the NFL's best overall record just a couple of weeks ago, and with a two game margin. Then they got hammered first by the 49ers, and then by the Cowboys. Now, they find themselves tied with a big showdown in Seattle, at a very tough place for road teams to play. Still, I expect them to bounce back here. My pick: Philly
