NFL 2023 - 24 Week 15 Thursday Night Football Review: Raiders Light Up Board Against Chargers

🏈🏈🏈🏈

Las Vegas Raiders 63, LA Chargers 21

This one was over long, long before it was officially over.

How bad was it? Well, consider that the Raiders owned a 42-0 lead by halftime. Las Vegas played a nearly perfect half of football, putting the game out of reach for the Chargers before they even took the field in the second half.

On the day, the Raiders produced a total of 378 yards to 326 total yards on offense for the Chargers. The Raiders earned 20 first downs to 18 for the Chargers. The two teams were fairly even with time of possession. Indeed, if you look at those stats only, you might be excused for thinking that the game was fairly even, and perhaps close. But the Chargers committed five turnovers, while the Silver and Black had none.

Raiders  quarterback Aidan O'Connell had himself a banner day. He completed 20 of 34 passes for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns. Davante Adams was his favorite target. Adams caught the ball 8 times for 101 yards and a touchdown. Zamir White picked up 69 yards and one TD on 17 carries.

This marked only the 24th time that an NFL team has produced 60 points or more in a game. However, with the Dolphins having scored 70 points already earlier in the year, this then marks the first season since 1972 that there were multiple games when teams reached that 60-point plateau. Since the 1966, no NFL team had scored more than 62 points in a game. This season, two teams have now produced more than that, with Miami's 70 points game against Denver, and now Las Vegas scoring 63 against the Chargers.

Unbelievable.

My pick: Accurate

INTERPRETED AS: last time a team scored 60 or more points in a game:
