NY Jets (6-9) at Cleveland Browns (10-5)
Gang Green escaped with a win last week, despite a strong Washington rally.
Cleveland, meanwhile, played extremely impressively in beating the Texans in Houston.
So if things go the way that I would expect them to in this one, the Browns should win. If they get this one, they will officially qualify for the postseason. Also, they will still have a shot at the AFC North division title, even though that is probably not a very realistic goal for them at this time.
The Browns have been playing very well now for some time. But they look particularly strong in the past few weeks, as they have managed to string together a three-game winning streak. They have not been overwhelming, either on offense or on defense. Yet, they do enough to get the job done, and to keep on winning.
It appears that they are getting good at winning. Right now, with their momentum, and so much riding on the results for this game for the Browns, I expect them to come out with a fiery intensity that may be scary. Sure, a letdown is possible. But they have not succombed to that so far this season, and I doubt that they will suffer a major letdown against the Jets here in this one.
Simply put, the Browns have a lot more to fight for here than the Jets do. Granted, the Jets could play the role of spoilers. But it seems to me that the Browns are a very tough, dangerous team, and this is especially the case since they appear to be finding out just how good they can be, as they prepare for what certainly feels like an inevitable playoff appearance. That, coupled with home field advantage, makes this feel like it should definitely be a win for the home team.
