Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (2-4)
Granted, you never know what's going to happen in a game until it is played. That's why they play them, right? Upsets happen all of the time. So does the unexpected.
All true.
Still, it is important to pay attention to the trends when analyzing and predicting what will happen in any given game. And in this one, you have a team that has been remarkably successful so far this season in the Pittsburgh Steelers. And on the other side, you have a Cincinnati Bengals team with a history of struggling whenever quarterback Joe Burrow goes out with an injury. They have been pretty terrible since his injury earlier this season, and he will not be taking the field in this one.
Yes, the Bengals have home field advantage. Maybe that will even help.
However, the Steelers just feel like the better team, and they enter this game with a ton of momentum. Meanwhile, the Bengals have lost four in a row, and this season is threatening to spiral completely out of control for them. Another few weeks like this, and they will pretty much be out of the playoff contention well before Thanksgiving.
So the pick this week feels obvious. Barring something unusual and unforeseen, the Steelers will find a way to come out of this one with a win, and the Bengals will continue to lose without Burrow.
My pick: Pittsburgh
