Everybody was talking about the recent passing of Ace Frehley, the former lead guitarist of legendary rock act KISS.
Now, I never met the guy or anything. However, my brother and I did go to see KISS once, at MSG back in the summer of 1996. It is still a concert that I am glad to have seen.
When I was a kid, KISS seemed fascinating. While I was too young to really get into them, and came around too late to see their cartoon or join the KISS Army, they did appeal to me. However, I got into them as a young man.
And while I kind of tired of them - particularly Gene Simmons - my favorite member of KISS remained Ace Frehley. He always felt like the most relatable, real member of the band.
RIP, Ace Frehley. You will be missed.
