A Map Showing European Border Changes Over 1,000 Years

Now this is really cool to watch!

This is a map, which includes very dramatic music that viewers of Inception will recognize. The map shows the numerous changes among European borders spanning the last 1,000 years.

Of course, the timing of the release of this map is appropriate, with Crimea essentially announcing what amounts to a temporary independence in lieu of the impending, seemingly inevitable annexation of Crimea back into Russia.
