Monday Night Football Review: Minnesota Shut Down in Seattle

Minnesota Vikings (6-5-1)

.v.

Seattle Seahawks (7-5)

Monday Night Football

Seattle 21, Minnesota 7

The Vikings, who are supposed to have one of the best and most explosive offenses in the league,  were just about completely shut down in Seattle last night. In fact, it took a garbage time touchdown  in the game's final minutes for Minnesota's supposedly elite offense to avoid a possible shutout.

Seattle's offense was hardly lighting up the scoreboard, either. They entered the fourth quarter with only a field goal to show for their efforts, although that was three points more than Minnesota had earned by that point. Russell Wilson completed 10 of 20 passes for 72 yards, with one interception. Tyler Lockett had five receptions for 42 yards. Running back Chris Carson picked up 90 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries.

Still, the Seahawks looked like a great offense compared to that of the Vikings. Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 20 of 33 passes for 208 yards and that one garbage time touchdown. Stefon Diggs had four receptions for 76 yards.

The Seahawks managed a second field goal in the fourth quarter, but managed a touchdown later 63 yard, 7-lay drive with a 2-yard touchdown run by Chris Carson. A successful two-point conversion made it 14-0.

Seconds later, Seahawks cornerback Justin Coleman recovered a fumble and ran it in 29 yards for another touchdown, and a 21-0 Seattle lead.

With the win, Seattle is in very good shape to qualify for the postseason. The Vikings would still be in the playoffs if the season ended today, although they would be backing into the postseason, following two consecutive convincing losses where that elite offense scored a total of 17 points.

My prediction: Accurate
