NFL 2018-19 Week 15 Saturday Games Review

Saturday Games

 Houston Texans (9-4)

 v.

New York Jets (4-9)

Houston 29, N.Y. Jets 22 - The Jets were a bit tougher than expected yesterday, but still, the Texans won. Their defense held when absolutely needed, and the offense managed to do just enough to secure the win. It is possible that Houston will win the division outright this weekend, if certain games with division rivals go the way that the Texans obviously hope for them to go. But credit the Texans for doing what they had to do yesterday, overcoming a disappointing loss that ended a huge winning streak, and getting back on track on the road in ugly and cold weather. They are back in the chase not just for a division title, but a playoff bye, at this point.  My pick: Accurate

Cleveland Browns (5-7-1)

at

Denver Broncos 6-7

Cleveland 17, Denver 16 - The Broncos would beat the Browns literally every time that they played, seemingly, from the mid-1980's on. In fact, in doing a little bit of research, I was surprised to find that the Browns had won as recently as October of 1990. That was with Bernie Kosar, and would have meant that Cleveland had actually beaten the Broncos with John Elway, which seemed to be one team that they could not beat for the life of them. Yes, the Broncos have owned this rivalry, and had won 11 straight against Cleveland...until last night. Indeed, the Browns came up big, coming back to shock the Broncos before their home crowd, and amazingly, moving ahead of Denver in the playoff race. True, the chances are very slim that the Browns will actually qualify. But just the fact that we can mention the Browns and playoff hopes in the same sentence in mid-December is simply amazing! What a turnaround from last year's winless season, and what a game they put on yesterday! A great and deserved win.  My pick: Inaccurate
