Grey Cup/Coupe Grey: Winnipeg Blue Bombers Knock Off Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 33-12

Grey Cup/Coupe Grey

Winnipeg Blue Bombers 33,  Hamilton Tiger-Cats 12

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers ended nearly three full decades of Grey Cup futility last night, as they thoroughly beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Grey Cup, winning the title for the first time in 29 years.

For the first time in 50 years, the Grey Cup MVP was given to a Canadian, and he happens to be a native of WInnipeg, to boot. Yes, Andrew Harris helped his team in a big way, as they finally rose to the top of the CFL once again.

When it was announced that he won the MVP award, he sounded more interested in celebrating his team's accomplishments:

"That sounds good but the only trophy I want is the big silver one," said Harris, who upon signing with Winnipeg in 2016 made ending the city's Grey Cup drought his top priority.

"It's surreal, it's amazing, it's a dream come true.

"I'm so proud to be a Winnipegger. I can't wait to get back and share this with all of them."  Added backup quarterback Chris Streveler: "The parade's going to be nuts."
