Toronto Argonauts 34, Montreal Alouettes 27
The Toronto Argonauts went to the Eastern Final last year, and in fact hosted it. But they fell just short, ultimately falling to Hamilton.
This year, they got to earn the right to host the Eastern Final again. And they were determined to make the most of it. In the end, they did that, although it was not easy.
Montreal's defense was very impressive at key moments against Hamilton in the first franchise playoff win in years just one week earlier. But in this one, they failed to stop the Argonauts at the most critical moments. This ultimately did the team in.
Toronto built an early, double-digit lead in the first quarter, and then just hung on. After such a dominant start to the game, they did just enough to win the game, and earn the right to play in the 109th Grey Cup next weekend, where they will play the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who are looking to three-peat.
Alouettes' defence comes up short, losing East Division final to Argonauts
The Argos will advance to the Grey Cup for the first time since 2017, while the Alouettes haven't been to the big game since 2010.
