World Series Champions: Houston Astros
The Houston Astros were down two games to one in this series, and the Phillies looked very capable of winning the series. But then, the Astros just took over the series.
It began with an incredible no-hitter to win Game 4. That was only the second no-hitter in World Series history, and it could not have come at a better time for the Astros.
Then, they won the final game in Philadelphia, which was a nail biter. Close as the game was, the Astros managed to pull off the win to put themselves in the driver's seat for the rest of the series, which shifted back to Houston for Game 6 and, if need be, Game 7.
But the Astros made sure that a Game 7 would not be necessary. They took care of business in Game 6, completing the three game sweep following their 2-1 series deficit.
And so the Houston Astros did it. They followed up on an incredible regular season by dominating in the postseason. Ultimately, they won their second World Series in six years. This time, they did it with everybody watching closely and scrutinizing, after the whole cheating scandal from their prior World Series championship.
